Leo Plumb is an artist and writer currently working at Mount Florida Studios in Glasgow. Here, he had his first Solo Show Four Folding Corners in 2017

Often seeking an exchange of knowledge in his work; In the past he has collaborated with artist colleagues, hotel workers, young people and janitors to realise new research projects, workshop programmes and exhibitions.

Along with 10 friends, Leo helped found MEXICO, a gallery and curatorial organisation in Leeds (http://m-e-x-i-c-o.co.uk/ ). Between 2011 and 2014 they developed a range of projects, exhibitions, educational and residency programmes . The dual aim of Mexico’s programme was to showcase exciting international artists as well as to understand and document the growing culture of ‘solidarity’ and ‘structures of support’ within the uk artist-led movement at the time. Continuing his interest in alternative pedagogies, Leo took part in the European Exchange Academy 2015 (http://www.eeacademy.eu/) an intensive art course in Dale i Sunnfjord, Norway alongside artists representing 11 different nationalities.

In 2016, Leo completed a Masters of Research at The Glasgow School of Art. In his study Building Shaped Knowledge he examined Glasgow’s network of community centres over the course of one year. Here he created new video works which responded to staff member’s shifting relationship to their ‘places’ of work in these centres; both mobile, precarious and simultaneously embedded in their communities.
